Ryan DeMarco returns to his hometown of Erie, Pennsylvania, after his estranged wife, Laraine, attempts suicide. Unfortunately, Laraine has decided that the only person who can make her well again is DeMarco himself. DeMarco disagrees.
As he is leaving the hospital, for what he vows will be the last time, he runs into a former high school football teammate, a man who is now the Mahoning County sheriff. DeMarco learns that three unsolved murders have occurred in his old stomping grounds over the past month, and that they might be related to a cold case from 1988, the year he graduated from high school. Even though DeMarco longs to get back to his new love, Jayme, his heart is with his hometown and getting to the bottom of those unsolved murders.
Randall Silvis once again pens an emotionally wrenching thriller that throws DeMarco into a swamp of memories, dredging up ghosts of his past.
