Set in the past, written in the present, changing the future.
Author John R K Powell has gone back in time to tell the tale of an inn at the centre of a conspiracy controlled by Her Majesty the Queen Victoria. The minds of murderers, both real and fictitious, are delved into from the perspective of their own unique and twisted minds, as each is brought to the inn for their execution. Caught up in the scandal, the inn-keeper must keep his wife in the dark, while he is drawn further into the darkness and closer to the very people from whom he intended to keep his distance.
Murder, twists and conspiracy; this book has it all. And yet, there’s more. Ending the lives of the murderers is supposed to erase their existence. But piercing screams in the night, flickering shadows and lights and impossible visions suggest death may not really be the end. What should be a comforting thought becomes a living nightmare; a nightmare in which the inn-keeper, his wife and the chief executioner must fight for their lives. But one of them is doomed. Is it the inn-keeper with the unhealthy fascination in those sent to his inn for their execution? The wife who cannot keep her eyes off of the young officer turned executioner? Or the executioner himself, mindlessly ending the lives of people, he believes, are guilty.
