Will Burton is just a regular teenager with an unfortunate past. When he and his mother, Karen, move to New Jersey, Will starts at his new school. He befriends a fellow outsider , Sa5m (the 5 is silent), and they work on a school project together. Then the school's 'it' girl, Charlotte, befriends Will, who helps to manage her band so they can compete in 'Bandslam' against Charlotte's ex-boyfriend Ben. Caught in a tricky love triangle, Will has to also find a way to prevent everyone at school from finding out about his past.
