2016 | Biography
'As the years went by, and my grandchildren grew, I began to notice the many differences there are in present-day family life, compared to previous generations. I wanted to hear other grandmothers' stories and to feel the emotional link that they have with their own granddaughters. Also, I wanted to know how they lived their lives and what their dreams and expectations were when they were young.' Jean Swales In her seventies Jean Swales set off on an adventure in her trusty Campervan 'Blossom', travelling through the UK, learning more about the history and geography of her homeland, and interviewing grandmothers and their granddaughters. The result is this book, which brings together the hopes, dreams and experiences of two quite different generations. Jean Swales is a mother, grandmother, artist, writer and friend. Jean is also a psychologist, a Reiki healer and daily meditator. Moving from Kent, she now lives in a hamlet in Oxfordshire. She enjoys walking and just 'being in the world, but not of it'. Jean shines brightly. Her willingness to question every trapping of life is very inspiring.
Lee Barnes, Master Life Coach As a trained psychotherapist, Jean Swales has a deep understanding of people, based on her long life of getting to know herself and others. Her wise, intelligent insights are a joy to read and savour. Joanna Beazley Richards MSc, Clinical Psychologist
