The Burren and the Cliffs of Moher on Ireland's Atlantic shore are amongst Ireland's most enigmatic and magical places, with UNESCO-endorsed Geopark status since 2011. This is the rockiest part of Ireland, a limestone or karst landscape home to a unique combination of wildflowers and wildlife, and an ancient and rich heritage. Man and nature are deeply entwined in the Burren and have shaped each other over the millennia. These photographs capture the essence of the Burren: the weathered landscape of limestone pavement, hills, caves and lowlands; the ever-changing light; the exotic flora that bring together arctic, alpine and Mediterranean species; the elusive wildlife; the tombs, cairns, forts and churches, many shrouded in mystery; and the people who call this place their home.
