Massively and enduringly popular role-playing game originally designed by Sandy Petersen, one of the two or three biggest games in the genre; also brought the works of H.P. Lovecraft to a much wider audience. Players take the roles of investigators trying to solve mysteries steeped in the horrific cosmic lore of Lovecraft's Cthulhu Mythos: success is defined by not dying (or going insane). This latest edition is a fairly substantial update, converting the whole system to a percentile basis. Conversion to and from the first six editions is simple and notes are provided.
