Cars in Cuba You Should See Before You Die

2017 | Transportation

Visitors to Cuba are enchanted by the music, the cigars and rum but above all they love those iconic classic American cars thundering along the crumbling streets of Havana and over the dusty bumpy roads of the island. In the first half of the 20th century Cuba was one of the greatest importers of American cars and by 1955 they numbered over one hundred and fifty five thousand. Kim Buddee's affectionate tribute to this Jurassic Park of motor vehicles captures the wide range of imports from pre WW2 through the glory days of the 1950s. Away from the motor museums and collectors' Concourses, here these classic vehicles appear warts an' all, strung together with duct tape and wire, hybrid models with odd hood ornaments and hand painted panels, some in motion and some broken down.
