Post-apocalyptic California, The year 2017. Sam Treadwell companion is Cherry 2000, a lifelike robot who caters to his every need. When Cherry expires (making out on the floor that is covered with water and soap), Treadwell refuses to settle for a newer model. Salvaging the chip containing her personality, he hires tracker E. Johnson to lead him through the lawless desert zone, where a replacement Cherry 2000 model can be found.
