Very Difficult for begginners
Weak Theme by modern standards
A Good Classic Game
This is a classic game, it has been around for a long long long time. What's great is that almost everyone knows the rules. What is not so great is that everyone is on a different level of playing skill. The game isn't much fun if you are on a lower level. It's a very dry game. There are better games out there. Especially modern games. There are very few classic games that compare. At this point in games, the King, has be turned into a pawn.

Chess is a classic game where people can easily learn the rules, but the gameplay is very abstract.

No luck, randomness, or otherwise game mechanics that would overthrow skill. (0 more)
White has a slight advantage (3 more)
The game has been plagued with books on strategy and "best openings," so much so that playing a traditional game just feels pointless unless you are avidly reading such books
An epitome of the phrase "thought paralysis"
Games can take a while unless you are playing timed.

A great strategy game. Really helps build your logic skill. However, try not to be discouraged when an older or better player "shows you up." It's all about learning how to improve your skills.

So many variations to play the game. Strategy is key to the entire game. Not a game you 'accidentally win'. (0 more)

Highly strategic but also boring
If you really care great. But it’s hard to get into it. The theme is terrible. But some chess sets are beautiful.
