Circus of the Damned (Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter, #3) reviews from people you don't follow
In truth there are authors in this genre who are in some respects better, however i do enjoy reading books by this author. The Anita Blake series is easy reading. The plots are not too complicated and characters are easy to follow and they never take that long to read that i lose interest. I would recommend to anyone interested in this genre that doesnt want a huge long drawn out book but a nice quick vampire story fix.

As I've said of the first two novels in this series, there are quite a few grammatical errors in these books. Not to mention, the repeated dialogue in all of them. That being said, the story is pretty solid and action packed. I like that the main character is so human for lack of a better word. She is regularly injured and carries scars from each injury instead of fully healing like in other novels. She is small but feisty and very easy to like. I do wish there were more romance or even just sex in the stories. It ramps up towards it but seems to fall short just before anything good happens. I've heard that this will change as you progress through the series but I find myself a little frustrated that I've made it through three books without much romantic progress in the storyline.

I picked up reading the third story sometime this summer, read a decent bit, put it down, and haven't been able to resume reading. I think the main reason is that the writing is poor. Not to mention I enjoy the majority of newer books in this genre better. Even though LKH might have been the first (or at least one of the first) to write an urban fantasy book featuring a kick-ass female protagonist, she is one of the worst writers. I think I'll stop while I'm ahead. I'm kinda sorry I bought so many in this series now.
