A famous but terminally-ill scientist, trying to secure his reputation for posterity, attempts to create a limitless supply of geothermal energy by firing a nuclear missile into a fissure in the Earth's crust. This goes about as well as you'd expect and creates a ravening fault threatening to split the planet in two. As if that wasn't bad enough, the scientist and his rugged young rival are both in love with the same woman. Some days nothing goes right!
