FX is turning the first season of the documentary podcast “Crimetown,” about organized crime and municipal corruption in the Rhode Island capital, into a scripted TV drama.
The podcast — which will take on a different American city each season — is hosted by Marc Smerling and Zac Stuart-Pontier, and they will write the FX adaptation. The pair previously created one of the shows that ushered in the trend of classy real-crime shows and podcasts, HBO’s “The Jinx.” Theodore Melfi, who co-wrote and directed the movie “Hidden Figures,” will direct.
