It's hard not to compare a miniatures based sci-fi/fantasy board game to the Elephant in the room (Bloodbowl).
However, where Bloodbowl shows similarities to Rugby and/or American football, this comes across as more fast paced, more akin to - if I had to say anything - to the old arcade game Speedball Deluxe.
First editions had its problems with weaker season 1 teams being left further and further behind in rogressuve seasons; hopefully the second edition has sorted those problems out (alongside introducing a long-overdue new stat of agility that might actually mean Jacks are a useful part of your team now!)
