Early Man (2018) reviews from people you don't follow
Like Wallace & Gromit meets Mean Machine meets the Flintstones
As a massive Wallace & Gromit fan, I was really looking forward to this being released. I had no idea it revolved around football, but this didn't dominate too much.
The stone age tribe are merrily going about their bunny-hunting business when their happy little valley is invaded by bronze age man looking for a new source of their beloved metals. But unlike the Bad Religion song "We're All Gonna Die", early man didn't walk away when modern man took control, early man stood up to the challenge. This ultimately leads to the throwing down of a football challenge where the brutes will take on Real Bronzio in a football match.
The plot was nothing new, but there was enough humour injected throughout the film to make it an entertaining watch, and the cast of voices really add a lot (Rob Brydon in particular).

I love claymation/stop motion, and I'm definitely a Wallace and Gromit fan, so I was excited to see this. The animation was good, and the plot was entertaining. Though, I'm not sure exactly how this will go over with US audiences, because there were a lot of jokes that wouldn't have seemed funny if one wasn't familiar with football/Premier League. Tom Hiddleston's French accent was completely hilarious, and one of the best parts, next to Hobnob.

A great story (2 more)
Actually a good sense of humor
Tom hiddelston's french accent is hilarious
Early man is great but forgettable
Ok...so I bet you're wondering what is this? Well let me explain it's a movie from ardman animation, the guys behind Wallace and gromit and it's a love letter to soccer or football as the UK calls it. The reason this didn't get any attention was because the same day it came out in theaters a certain panther themed marvel superhero movie came out so it's easy to understand why. This movie is slow but once it gets done introducing the main characters it picks up. The humor is hilarious and Tom hiddelston's accent was most of the humor!
Does it hold a torch to Wallace and gromit and chicken run? Of course not but at the same time it's a great movie.
I recommend watching it if you're in the mood to watch something or if you need to keep kids quiet

Aardman animations.
Football. (or, as our American cousins call it, soccer).
Two quintessentially British things.
This is the first non-Wallace and Gromit Aardman claymation film since 'Chicken Run' (from the year 2000, I think), introducing a whole host of new characters and setting: prehistory, with a Stone Age tribe merrily doing their own thing hunting that most dangerous and elusive of all creatures (rabbits) in their valley, until they are forced out of the valley by their most sophisticated bronze age neighbours.
To get their own land back, they challenge said neighbours to a game of footie, despite not knowing how to play the game ...
Like I said at the top, quintessentially British.

Set at the dawn of time, when prehistoric creatures and woolly mammoths roamed the earth, Early Man tells the story of Dug, along with sidekick Hognob as they unite his tribe against a mighty enemy Lord Nooth and his Bronze Age City to save their home.
There's always cracking fun to have with an Aardman film, and Early Man certainly didn't break that tradition. Laughs and shocks, and trying to decipher voices because you forgot to look at the cast list before going to see it! It doesn't matter how hard I try, I can't reconcile Tom Hiddleston as Lord Nooth... at this point it actually hurts my brain to think about it.
Quite a few of the kids at the film didn't seem to understand what was going on, so every time the adults laughed there was a slight pause and then the kids would laugh instinctively. Always entertaining for everyone though, no matter the reason for the laughter.
