At the height of the cold war, both sides have developed technology to shrink matter, but only for an hour. A defecting Soviet scientist discovers a way round this limitation, but an attempt on his life leaves him in a coma with a blood clot in his brain threatening to kill him. A submarine is miniaturised and injected into his body so a rather unconventional operation can be performed - but is there a traitor on board?
