2017 | Thriller
The stunning new thriller by J.S. Monroe about one man's desperate search for the truth behind his girlfriend's "suicide" five years prior when they were both student's at Cambridge.
As the story goes: Rosa walked to Cromer pier in the dead of night. She looked into the dark swirling water below, and she jumped. She was a brilliant young Cambridge student who had just lost her father. Her death was tragic, but was it perhaps not entirely unexpected? Therein lies the mystery at the heart of the complex ride.
Find Me begins in London five years after Rosa's death. When Jar Costello begins to experience what his psychologist calls 'post-bereavement hallucinations,' seeing Rosa everywhere--a face on the train, a distant figure on the hillside--he becomes consumed with finding out what REALLY happened. He rents a garage lock-up where he plots the places and times he's seen her since her death, on maps tacked to the walls. And then he gets an email. "Find me, Jar. Find me, before they do..." Could Rosa be alive? And if she died that night, who is playing games with him now?
J.S. Monroe masterfully weaves a layered tale that alternates perspectives between Jar's third person narrative and Rosa's diary, given to Jar by Rosa's aunt, as it builds to its climax. We learn that Rosa's father, before his own mysterious death just prior to her first term at Cambridge, worked in a high level capacity in British intelligence and that Rosa's apparent suicide could possibly have been a cover for her recruitment into a cover intelligence program. The deeper Jar digs, the more confused he becomes as he is pressed into a dark underworld where nothing is as it seems and no one can be trusted. When a startling discovery convinces him more than ever that these are not just hallucinations--that Rosa really is alive--Jar is thrust into the heart of a larger intrigue that may finally shed some light on Rosa's death...even as it dangerously threatens his own life.
