The Gefiltefest Cookbook: Recipes from the World's Best-Loved Jewish Cooks

2014 | Food & Drink

From the humble aubergine to the outstanding Friday night dinner, food plays an enormous part in Jewish identity and celebration. Gefiltefest (www.gefiltefest.org) is a Jewish food charity that embraces every aspect of Jewish food and its traditions. The charity is proud to be at the forefront of Britain's Jewish food movement and stages a hugely popular annual festival. To coincide with the 2014 festival Gefiltefest is producing its first ever Jewish cookbook, which showcases recipes from the world's best-loved Jewish cooks. This unique cookbook features their favourite recipes, encouraging the use of seasonal produce. Among the many well-know writers who have contributed are, from the UK: Claudia Roden, Clarissa Hyman, Judy Jackson, The Jewish Princesses, Denise Philipps, Rose Prince, Judi Rose, Restaurant Kaifeng, Michael van Straten, Linda Dangoor, Lady Sacks, Marlena Spieler; from the USA: Florence Fabricant, Ken Alba, Barbara Kafka, Poopa Dweck, Fred Plotkin, Paula Wolfert, Stanley Ginsberg, Mitchell Davis, Steven Raichlen, Deborah Madison; from Israel: Yotam Ottolenghi, Sami Tamimi and from Australia Nadine Abensur.

The proceeds from the compilation will be donated to food-related charities including Leket Israel and Table to Table, which offers food distribution to charities.
