Released to international critical acclaim in 2007, the Acorn's ''Glory Hope Mountain'' was inspired by the remarkable life story of Gloria Esperanze Montoya, a Honduran refugee who fled to Canada in 1972. Based on months of recorded conversations with her son (The Acorn songwriter Rolf-Carlos Klausener), the album weaves her surreal stories of survival with experimental pop, Central American folk traditions, and Klausener's evocative lyricism. The 2017 edition has been newly remastered and includes a never-released song, new mixes and features guest performances from Casey Mecija, , Michael Feuerstack, and other gems of Canada's underground. The special edition includes a 16 pg. collector's booklet with original photos, lyrics, and the extraordinary stories behind the album's 12 songs. Nominated for the Polaris Music Prize in 2008, the album tells a surreal story of Canadian immigration, ''survival, escape and humility. Glory Hope Mountain'' richly encapsulates the beauty and horror of life's hardest tests, and the richness and endurance of motherly love. On double gold limited edition vinyl with bonus tracks including previously unreleased b-sides and alternate mixes and new 10th Anniversary artwork.
