Clint Eastwood, the Academy Award-winning director of Million Dollar Baby and Unforgiven and Academy-nominated director of Letters From Iwo Jima and Mystic River, returns to direct and star in his first role since his Oscar-nominated performance in Million Dollar Baby.
Eastwood is retired auto worker, Korean War veteran and widower Walt Kowalski, who is merely waiting out the rest of his life. His neighbors have all moved or passed away, replaced by Hmong immigrants he despises and aimless gangs of African American and Latino teenagers.
Then someone tries to steal his prized Gran Torino, the car he helped built on his own assembly line. And by standing up to the thieves, Kowalski becomes the unintended hero who changes the lives of his neighbors, of a boy being pushed into crime by local gangsāand of his own life as well.
