Desperate to escape an out of control brush fire, Serena takes an ill-fated detour on an old back road. When she awakens, her whole world has changed.
Thrust into the Hereafter, Serena is given a chance for a new life, and she must carve a new path for herself. She is trapped in a world that seems to exist out of time, where life runs in reverse, and she has no reflection. New people come into her life, some she will grow to love.
There are those among them, however, who seek not to be part of their community, but to control it. When someone from Serena's past returns to haunt her, the foundation of the new life she's building unravels.
It will lead her to question what is worth living for, and what is worth dying for... again.
