Honkytonk Man (1982)

1982 | Comedy | Drama | Musical

122 mins

Multiple Academy Award winner Clint Eastwood directs and stars with his real-life son, Kyle, in this heartwarming coming-of-age story about a fourteen-year-old farm boy and the hard-drinking, hard-living uncle he idolizes.

Red Stovall (Eastwood) is a Depression-era rascal whose fire-in-the-belly passion comes from the whiskey he slugs and the dream he chases: singing at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Tennessee. When the ailing singer gets a chance to fulfill that dream, he realizes this could be his last chance to make something of his life.

On his way to Tennessee, he visits his sister in Oklahoma and enlists his nephew Whit (Clint's son Kyle Eastwood) to drive his aging limousine.... and to help keep him sober until the audition.

Country music legends Marty Robbins, Shelly West, Porter Wagoner, Ray Price and David Frizzell co-star.
