2017 | Fiction & Poetry
An overworked human rights lawyer begins putting a case together for Yonas, a young Eritrean asylum seeker who shares her birthday. Investigating his claims, she interviews those who have encountered him along the way - which gives a snapshot of the range of perceptions of asylum seekers found in the UK. Meanwhile, we follow Yonas's story, from setting foot on British soil, to facing the court. Along the way, relationships are built and broken, and he learns more about the place which he desperately hopes to soon call home.
