LE GPS streams your location over Low Energy Bluetooth (4.0), using the standard GATT profile LNS (Location and Navigation Service, UUID 1819) designed by the Bluetooth consortium.
This allows your position aware device to share its GPS data with any compatible devices and apps.
It is designed to run also on the background, so you can use other apps while streaming your location. Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.
Use for example an iPhone to stream GPS data to
- an iPad (with a compatible app to receive it).
- an Arduino or Raspberry Pi project you designed
And more! With a free framework available on Github (https://github.com/RomainQuidet/LELocation-framework-iOS), any app developer will find it easy to integrated Bluetooth 4.0 wihtin their app. And hobbyist will use it also easily! Usage possibilities are infinite.
