Learning, Education, and International Development argues that learning and human development, rather than economic growth alone, are the keys to international development. It seeks to advance our knowledge and understanding of how to improve learning for all-especially for those who have been most marginalized, such as the poor, girls and women, indigenous populations, migrants, and more. Learning, in both formal and informal contexts, varies tremendously across and within societies and constitutes a more fundamental and equitable way to view and promote international development. This book brings together research from multiple social sciences, from the history of international development and international education, from the study of life-span human development and human learning, and from the study of globalization and new technologies.
