A great horror drama about a girl vampire who befriends a bullied boy in Sweden, A great foreign film done on a small budget that has some great cinematography I have to add. It can be a bit slow, it's more drama than horror action, but this makes certain scenes have more of an impact. One of the better vampire films around but the emphasis is on the relationship between the two children. Check it out!

"If I really like a film, I’ll go back and watch it over and over. I’ll study a film if I really like it. (The 2008 Swedish horror hit) ‘Let The Right One In,’ I probably watched 15 times"

“Very apt for now, because I think it’s just come out on DVD. I’m scared of horror films, and hardly ever see them, but I was just so haunted by the scene at the end at the swimming pool, about which I will say no more because my brain is still trying to work out what happened there. It just shows how, if you’ve got a really low budget, and a really serious intent, you can make people feel uncomfortable. It’s a weird, spooky, melancholy Swedish love story about vampires, which is a big subject at the moment, but it’s hard to imagine a better vampire film. So that would be my number one choice — delightful, strange and disjointing. “That will be the only horror movie on any list of mine. The first time I saw The Exorcist, I had to sleep with the lights on for about four years, so horror is not for me.”

"I love European cinema. I made a proviso that you have to watch it with the Swedish subtitles on, not dubbed in American. It’s terrible when it’s dubbed in American. It’s really a drama. It’s the story of a young boy who meets a young girl who just happens to be a vampire. But the editing, the way they show the bleakness of the world, the way that they show a period in time which is nondescript — they say it’s the modern world, but it feels like the modern world that has gone by somehow. Very beautiful part of the world, it’s sterile and full of snow. I watched that one night; a friend recommended it to me. I was in my house on my own, at night, was very scared of it, and fell in love with it. I’m not a huge fan of horror movies, to be fair. There’s no reason for me to bring that into my life, that horror element. But with Let the Right One In, it was worth it because the performances and the story were both so brilliant."

Good Vamp movies can be counted on the fingers of one hand in my opinion.
This one is a study of an adolescent boy who is bullied which juxtaposes an ageing mans loyalty and the need to serve.....his vampire ward.
No over the top SFX here as this is no run of the mill ordinary vampire movie, its strength lies in it's well thought out story that lodges in your brain much longer than it's running time..essential viewing!
