It is 1982 and Alina, a 4-year-old girl, is admired by her first teacher Miss Lyn. Miss Lyn and her fiancé Ralph exchange letters every week and the wedding day has already been set. Alina cannot wait to be a flower girl at this ceremony. For reasons unknown to her the wedding is called off.
Almost 40 years later, Alina is an adult and a married woman when fate brings her to Ralph and he reveals the truth.
Alina’s best friend Becky finds herself in a very toxic relationship and is left alone with two little children.
