After having a bit of a hit and miss scenario with Rayman, the Rabbids have decided to crash Mario's Party (see what I did there).
After an awkward malfunction involving a modded Nintendo power glove (because nothing says success like tampering with an item that wasn't fully functional in its best days) and a washing machine (of all things) the worlds of the Rabbids & mario & friends merge (Movie reference).
The game is a team turn based style shooter that is very fun to play, unlocking multiple characters along the way as Mario & Co. Double Dash (⬅ lol) through several stages of brightly coloured areas collecting coins & upgrades as Well as solving puzzle challenges.

A Surprise Hit
Mario + Rabbids surprised me, and has managed to be one of my most played games on the Switch. It makes for a great entry into the turn-based shooter genre, while still being approachable enough to be played by kids.
The RPG elements are enough to provide you with a sense of advancement, without being overbearing. And all of the collectables/power ups provide plenty of extra content to keep the game interesting.
I know sokme people complained about the game, because they beat it in 20-30 hours, but I think there is easially 50 hours worth of content and replayability.

I purchased the game having viewed only the trailers and being a huge fan of the X-Com series which it looks, and feels, very much like.
I found the graphics and overall visual tone of the game to be fantastic. The merging of Rabbids and Mario themes has been done cleverly in a manner which does not feel forced.
The humour largely works, in a cartoonish and slightly childish way and the story is enough to carry you through the single player despite not being massively deep, and being very linear.
The mechanics also work quite well, with one slight caveat. The levels themselves play more like a puzzle game than a strategy, there very much is a right way to do each level and a wrong way. If you make a wrong step then you may need to restart the level instead of finding a way to fix it as you go.
All in all the game is of a high quality and entertaining, and is well worth its price tag

I really enjoyed playing this game, the mechanics were good and I enjoyed the strategy elements. The repetitiveness of the progression and lack of good story made it hard for me to keep coming back, but when I do pick it up I enjoy it.
