Cult Japanese adaptation of Wu Ch'Eng-En's Journey to the West. A pious young priest is sent from China to India to bring the Buddhist scriptures to a troubled land, and is given three supernatural protectors: two fallen angels reincarnated as pig- and water-monsters, and the immortal Monkey King. Many adventures follow.
