Few people have more experience of all sides of horseracing than Bobby McAlpine. An owner for over sixty years, a racecourse Steward in his twenties, Bobby has done almost everything except ride in a race. My Racing Certainties is a story of horseracing and the people who make it so appealing and it comes from first-hand experience. This then is a tale of horseracing looking through the eyes of the owner figure. All seventeen chapters are from the owner's perspective and therein lies the book's rare appeal. Bobby has used no fewer than ten trainers, he has won the Ascot Gold Cup and the Champion Stakes, he has helped run four racecourses including Aintree and has expressed his views on other owners, the top jockeys, the betting business, the major racecourses - as well as institutions like the Jockey Club (of which he is a member) and its stewardship.
