Formed in 2003 as a result of the regionalisation of Welsh rugby, Newport Dragons started life with a third place finish in the 2003-04 Celtic League, narrowly failing to repeat their initial exploits the season after, ending it in fourth. Club highlights include reaching the semi finals of the European Challenge Cup in 2007, losing to French side ASM Clermont Auvergne 46-29, and in 2011 they reached the semi-finals of the Anglo-Welsh Cup, losing to Gloucester. Peter Jones documents Newport's most iconic players and managers from the team's early beginnings to the present day. With unprecedented access to the club's archives, Newport Dragons: Legends of the Turf provides a complete history of the club's heroes, complete with facts and figures, along with their most memorable games.
