Adventure movie from ITC. The US military is searching for unobtainium to power a miraculous new missile defence system, but discover that the only known source ended up in a vault on the Titanic in 1912. Maverick oceanographic engineer Dirk Pitt (Richard Jordan) is put in charge of bringing the ship back up. Hated by the author, the film was a considerable box-office bomb and led to the dissolution of ITC as a movie company. 'It would have been cheaper to lower the Atlantic,' ITC boss Lew Grade famously observed.
