Rocky Balboa is a working-class boxer with a heart of gold, who reluctantly works as a debt collector for a loan shark in the slums of Philadelphia. He starts out as a small-time fighter in local boxing clubs, but as a romance blossoms between Rocky and a timid pet store clerk named Adrian, he gets a shot at the world heavyweight championship against Apollo Creed.
