Social Networks in China

2017 | Computing & IT

Social Networks in China is an in-depth guide to Chinese social networks, covering behaviours, usage, key issues, and future development. Chinese scholarship and Chinese cultural idiosyncrasies in the context of technology remain a relatively under-researched area. While such issues may be sporadically reported in popular media, it is often difficult to obtain a true understanding of authentic Chinese behaviours and practices. One such study area is that of whether Chinese users utilise technology to socialize in the same sorts of ways as people from western societies. In the digital age, however, this question cannot be answered in a simple fashion due to the variety and differences in the tools that are used by audiences in different regions. Currently, no directly competitive books exist in the market that addresses issues concerning Chinese social networks. This shortage represents a clear and significant opportunity given that numerous books are available on western social networks covering many different themes. The aim of this book is to therefore address this shortage and opportunity.
