Curious about his ancestral roots, Donald Macleod goes on a journey with his doting wife from Katy, Texas, to the United Kingdom. Most shockingly, he discovers the kind of man his distant ancestor was: why he was despised by his family; how he treated the villagers like slaves; and why people were glad to see the end of him. When most would feel disgust from this revelation, Donald Macleod saw this as a competition - he wanted to exceed the number of people his great uncle had murdered and likewise to also get away with it. Edith, a neighbour and chair of the community is suspicious of Donald's behaviour, especially when her husband disappears on his way to the grocers. Adamant to find out the truth, Edith seeks the help of police officers Marie and Mike, but it proves to be a dangerous game.
