This is the first in a police procedural series that takes place in current day Glasgow. Alex Morrow is the books protagonist and while she appears not very likable - by either the characters or we the readers - she is smart, engaging and a bit mysterious. The crime and resulting mystery are a at times a bit goofy but set against the gritty streets of Glasgow it endears to the story as well as the fate of the characters.
