This retelling of the One Thousand and One Nights tale "Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves" is told from teh perspective of Marjana, the girl who saves Ali Baba!
Marjana na dher little brother, Jamal, slaves of Ali Baba's cruel brother, Cassim, are kidnapped one night by the Forty Thieves. They manage to escape, but Marjana is worried for Jamal, as he becomes drawn to their lifestyle and joins a street gang. When Marjana meets Saja, another slave who's also concerned about her little brother becoming involved with criminals, they try to get their siblings to become friends, and in the process, brecome close to each other as well.
But Marajana's mistress is more worried about the size of her husband's wealth, and convinces Marjana to spy on the fortune-teller Abu-Zayed. Abu-Zayed predicts that ali Baba will end up far richer than Cassim, which sends him into a panic, sepecially when Cassim learns that his brother has found the secret cave of the Forty Thieves, suggesting that the prediction is coming true. Can Marjana save Jamal from the underworld, all the while helping Ali Baba escape the wrath of the Forty Thieves?
