The Parable of Arable Land by The Red Crayola

2011 | Psychedelic | Rock

The Red Crayola were one of the mainstays of Texas indie label International Artists Records and are recognised in psychedelic circles as producing some of the weirdest music ever - combining elements of avant-garde and garage with wild, experimental freak outs and chilling stripped down songs which sounded unlike anything else from the Sixties. This, their debut album from 1967 has been re-mastered for this release from the original tapes by Pete Kember, AKA Sonic Boom, the former member of Spaceman 3 and producer of MGMT and Panda Bear. The 2CD set contains both mono and stereo versions along with bonus tracks, one of which was hitherto completely unreleased. The mono disc also has the tracks re-adjusted so the freeform freakouts are taken out and the musical tracks play as a complete set (after the original album). This luxury 2CD digibook edition of the album features an extensive booklet written by IA authority Paul Drummond with a preface from Sonic Boom.
