2017 | Medical & Veterinary
This book aims to reflect actual, current practice with survivors of all forms of childhood abuse. It will explore the experiences of practitioners who work with survivors in a transparent and accessible style. The book would be valuable therefore to a wide range of people from those working/studying at post graduate level, to experienced and less experienced practitioners, to those who may have missed out educationally because of their abuse but are searching for relevant information and material. Although there are many survivor accounts available, there is less literature that takes a broader perspective, that is also accessible and detailed. This book will essentially incorporate, survivor experience; practitioner experience, therapeutic practice and knowledge gained from setting up and delivering a service for abuse survivors from scratch ten years ago. This service has had to be evaluated in great detail and consequently there is considerable data available on service efficacy, patterns of referral, service user experience and development of practice.
This provides a unique base and one that will be valuable for survivors, practitioners, researchers and those interested in service organization and delivery.
