British B-movie horror melodrama. A scientist who may not be entirely psychologically sound goes off to the Amazon and returns with a carnivorous tree, from which he hopes to extract a drug to raise the dead (as you would). He keeps the tree in his cellar and feeds it exclusively on young starlets while his native servant plays the bongos. The local mechanic and his hula-dancing fiancée are dragged into this unlikely web of intrigue. The original prop tree was apparently destroyed in a fire shortly before production, hence the rather startling replacement used in the film. AKA The Woman Eater in the USA.
