Wrecking Ball

2016 | Film & TV

It's a story about a male photographer and a female celebrity. Its a question about how far we'll go, how much we think we're in control and how much we're prepared to 'go with the flow'. The piece playfully manipulates theatrical conventions and narrative expectations, revealing the seductive power of make believe and the subtle abuses of power that dictate our relationships - with each other, with art and with language. The authors of the work are also the performers and the lines between truth and fiction, and consent and coercion blur until they're destroyed. It began as an experiment at Counterpulse in San Francisco as part of a Forest Fringe residency, working with the writer and director Andrea Hart. Wrecking Ball was commissioned by the Spring Festivals Commission 2015: Sprint, Watch Out, Mayfest, Pulse and Latitude Festival. Supported by the National Theatre Studio, Greenhouse, The Point, Eastleigh and the West End Centre. Funded by Arts Council England.
