When Egbert "Egg" Masterson leaves the family island unexpectedly, he never expects to find himself on his own and fighting to stay alive. Can he evade those who are after him long enough to find out why they want him dead?

This is an inventive middle grade series. It's not our world but not fantasy either, and I had no problem jumping into that world. There's lots of action for guys with Egg always on the run from killers and pirates. Definitely planning on reading the next one myself soon.

Sassy and Bridgy have settle into their new life running a café/bookstore in Fort Myers Beach, Florida. But when one of their loyal customers is murdered, they are surprised. Delia was a nice, quiet woman. Who would want to kill her?

The characters and the setting in this book are wonderfully vivid, and I enjoyed spending time with them. Unfortunately, the pacing was off and at times I got frustrated waiting to get back to the mystery. However, it did all come together for a logical ending.

Loved this film and the combination of Paul Walker
and Tyrese Gibson worked a treat. The lovely Eva Mendes was as pleasing
to the eye as always. The story line was fantastic. Go undercover and
work for the drug exporter and then bring him down whilst saving the
girl. Plus doing all this in a modded Mitsubishi Evo and Mitsubishi
Spyder, amazing cars and the exhaust tones were pleasing to he ear.
Why should I watch it? – Any fan of fast cars will love this film. It is full of awesome cars, awesome driving and of course Eva Mendes!!

Reading fiction is a one way to escape today's harsh reality. However, sometimes you can also do that with a non-fiction book as well. From my experience, this is particularly true of travel books, which take us to locations both known and unknown, and see them through the eyes of another. In this travel diary by Roz Morris, we get all of that, and so much more, including large doses of humor. You can read more about what I thought of this book in my review here (which includes a cliffhanger for a future blog post as well). https://tcl-bookreviews.com/2017/09/16/the-guestbook-spy/

The second book in the Virals series by Kathy Reichs, Seizure, follows Tory, Ben, Shelton and Hi through their next insanely tough adventure. New characters and threats are introduced, and a certain character re-visited.

Even longer than the first book at a whopping 491 pages, Seizure an look a little daunting at first. However, the length makes it perfect for dozens of unexpected twists and hurdles for the Virals to overcome. The Prologue sets the book off to an interesting start, and connections are made throughout the story.

Relatively different to Virals, the group's aim in this sequel is to prevent LIRI from being shut down, and keep Loggerhead available for them to visit. They put together dozens of clues to every unsolved mystery they come across, but I personally found the consequences a little too consequential and hard to believe and their ideas to be rather far-fetched at times. But hey, that's what adventure books are all about, right?

Again, similar typos to before were found, and the writing style is obviously as straight-forward most of the time. Despite being so unbelievable throughout, everything is very cleverly planned and put together. It's an exciting read that brings out both fear and joy for the group of Virals. I'm also going to give this Virals book 3.5/4 stars out of 5.

I received a free copy of this novel direct from the author in return for an honest review.

The fact that I received it free and from the author in no way influences how I feel about this book ... it was absolutely brilliant and I loved everything about it. It sounds corny but I really couldn't put it down.

It is an exceptionally well told, well written story with really well thought-out characters. It was fast paced from the start with plenty of violence which is graphic but written in such a way as not to be gratuitous.

Absolutely stunning! magical, mystical creatures, and a dark truth. I loved this story and is one of my top favorite reads of 2018.

Are main character Jude is a mortal living in the Fey world with her twin sister. They are bullied from other creatures. Holy Black did a wonderful job writing this story were I could visualize the whole story in my head like a movie.

This lovely gem is such a dark, twisted story that the ending had me shocked. I can not wait for the second book as I need to have more from this story.

Needing a new start, Trixie Matkowski has bought her aunt’s diner in upstate New York. Her first day at the new owner, someone poisons the health inspector by adding mushrooms to a family recipe. Who is trying to drive Trixie out of business?

This was a fun debut with a plot that grew as the book progressed. The characters were distinct, although they could be a bit better developed. I had some nitpicks with timing and how little sleep Trixie got, but they were minor. This was a fun series debut.
