I've long touted that artificial sweeteners are poison. Here's a novel that takes that basic premise, brings it into the world of fiction, and watches to see what happens when one of those sweeteners is found to be a real problem. Read my review of this excellent debut novel here https://tcl-bookreviews.com/2014/08/18/flavored-for-deception/

If you’re looking for a historical fiction novel set in Paris, Edward Rutherfurd’s novel is exactly that. Plus, you’ll learn about this amazing city through the stories of six families and over seven centuries. "It was a left turn within the punk rock scene, it was weird and sort of violent and real. It was in your face and as real as any rock band had been and that record got me through some shit. We all have a record that got us through a break-up or that you listened to when you’re 18 and you think everything’s going to hell and not going to last, and that record got me through that. Actually the first gig I ever did was opening for Black Flag when I was 14, but it was when Ron Reyes was the singer, so I’d followed them closely for a long time – well three years and three years is a long time when you’re 18. But that was the record that fortified it."

Throughout the book Mary builds up the story and leads you to believe the ending will be just as good. I felt that this book has SOOOO much potential but was very let down with how it ended.

Another slow read by M.Z. This one didn’t hit me as emotionally as her previous books as the main characters seemed to me more immature that their supposed ages especially with the back and forth talk and all the internal dialogue.

2017 | Action/Adventure
By the end of Thumper, the speed is insane, the music wild and oppressive, and the feeling of just barely holding on to a beast that wants to send you flying so it can gnaw your bones is disturbingly strong.

Oh dear! Be afraid, very afraid...of the closet!?? It had a good opening then went down hill so quick it's unbelievable. Not scary, spooky, creepy at all. Would have been better as an 18/R rating film. I have to mention the cgi was a joke as well.....and this has 2 sequels, that's something to be afraid of!

Considering how long ago this book was written it held up well. I mean yes, there are things that are definitely dated (All the decor that’s mentioned, phone booths, people able to drink at 18) but the basic book itself still is good thanks mostly to Judy Bloom’s writing skill. I will never look at the name Ralph the same way again though.

I played this game with my family on Christmas Day and while some people didn't get what the pictures meant, it was still funny to have the captions that match them. If you add in the adult pack of cards then it's even funnier, luckily we were playing with people who were all over 18.

One would expect something amazing to come from the late, world-famous murder mystery writer P.D. James taking on a sequel to Jane Austen's most beloved novel "Pride & Prejudice." Could this be a match made in heaven or just a literary crime? Find out from my review here https://tcl-bookreviews.com/2013/10/18/a-match-made-in-heaven-or-a-literary-crime/
