Laughed my a$$ off through this 1970's flashback!
Very funny movie about the start of National Lampoon magazine. Had me laughing hysterically and loved the flashback to some of my favorite shows and star from the '70's!

It's all cracking off in 1970's London!
I love Jan, she's interesting and a pretty relatable character. She takes things in her stride and isn't from the conventional housewife mould.
A Mirror Murder is well written with a great description of how London looked and the particular aromas the city had back in the 1970's...... basically grim. It does make a good backdrop for murder and budding romance though.
Perfect for an afternoon read and the best part is that it's the start of a series, I do love a series! Even more so when there's already a few more ready to read so there's no waiting for the next fix.

This is the story of a friendship between two boys in 1970's Afghanistan. When something horrible happens, it affects them forever. I loved the author's second book, but I found this one lacking.

A teen flick wrapped up in a John Carpenter film
There are many elements of 1970's and 80's horror films in this modern movie. From the panning cinematography and quietness of The Shining, to the virgin aspect of Halloween and Friday 13th. In this case, they've used the idea of sex to transmit a curse hence the plot is rather thin. And while the dream like quality is always eerie, the story wasn't strong enough to warrant a good rating.
