Rolling Stone's 280th greatest album of all time
If you were alive in 2000 you couldn't avoid the singles from this album - Beautiful Day, Elevation and Stuck in a Moment. Similarly, if you ever watch a British football highlights programme there is a 76% chance you will hear one of these three during the programme. Other than the singles, the rest is very forgettable and typical U2.

These films serves to bring together great action stars from the 80's 90's and 2000's in a rather formulaic but totally enjoyable gun pornfest of a movie that is totally appealing in a nostalgic kinda way.
It's fun and throwaway but gives us a chance to see action stars of old doing what they are best at, a guilty pleasure, however 3 is enough though!

A pretty good cast line up for the time, most had been in a big hit around 2000. Similar to There's Something about Mary as 2 guys who vowed to stay single end up chasing the same girl. It has quite a bit of gross out gags, maybe a bit too much on the gross side! It has it's moments but they can be few and far between.

The second short story bundled with Kevin Hearne's 'Hounded' in which Atticus O'Sullivan and his dog Oberon encounter some witches up to no good (of course) while on a short vacation.

Compared to the previous short story, this shows more the nature of Atticus connection to the land (he's a 2000+ year old Druid, remember), especially with the forest setting. It also takes the saying "nature, red in tooth and claw" quite literally!

"Bob [Hardy, bassist] and I used to work in the same kitchen. This is one of the songs we bonded over. It’s unconventional, but it feels honest. It’s deceptively simple. It’s got a straightforward poppy feel about it, but it’s actually really cool and interesting. It reminds me of being back in the kitchen in Groucho Saint Jude’s in the year 2000 with Bob washing the dishes and me cooking the self-saucing chocolate pudding."

"An underrated Stones record. You know, they had a sound. They originally started off and covered the Beatles' songs and other covers, because they didn't know how to write songs. Everybody hung out in the same clubs back then and they'd see each other socially. So, early on, the Beatles gave them 'I Wanna Be Your Man', which the Beatles recorded, but the Stones did as a single. Their manager Andrew Loog Oldham told them that they had to write their own songs, so they went down and developed that sound. Then eventually they saw the Beatles doing Sgt. Pepper's and all this experimental stuff and the Stones decided to go outside of their comfort zone. That's what I find interesting, whether Satanic Majesties is the Stones trying to do Sgt. Pepper's and ripping off the Beatles or not, it has production value and songwriting that isn't found on any other Stones records. '2000 Light Years From Home', '2000 Man'; I mean, we covered '2000 Man'. It's talking about computers and the year 2000, it's so interesting. I can remember being at school in the 60s and reading 1984 by George Orwell, which is all about how in the future the government would be spying on us. Of course this was written well before 1984, which now sounds like a long time has passed. So it's all relative. With the Stones' music, the strings and backwards stuff, there is some very very good material on that record. They happen not to like the record. I think it's a unique record that shows that the Stones have some depth. There is some bad, out-of-key background singing because they were never the best singers, they didn't have harmonies like the Beatles. The thing about it is that they were blues-based and they veered away from it on that record and went into almost Celtic and classical areas. It was a pastiche, a multi-coloured quilt! You can look at a band like a coin and say, 'I see everything, I don't need to see anything more', but there is that other side. That other side is what I think is more interesting. The depth."

Not so sweet 16
What can you say about a movie like 16 candles that hasn't already been said a 1000x. Like most of John Hughes 16 candles really just sums up what it's like being a teenager and no matter the decade he really just transcended time because this movie worked for my mom in 80's, me in the early 2000's, and teens now and honestly I feel like it will still be relateable for generations to come.

Rolling Stone's 341st greatest album of all time
Superb soft dance album by Moby. This album contains so many singles that were hard to avoid in '99/2000. The one downside of the album is that the best material is definitely in the first half, so the album does fade away to an extent after that. Also, I would have put money on the song "Flower" ("bring Sally up, bring Sally down") being on this album, but it was apparently on the follow-up B-sides album.

In this hit sequel, wolverine and the X-Men (pun intended) are being hunted following an assault on X mansion/school for gifted youngsters. During this, Logan/wolverine comes into contact with the leader of the assault, an unknown figure from his past, the past he doesn't remember.

Featuring some of the best Graphics and stunt work, gritty story telling & a returning cast, X-Men2 is one of the best action/sci-fi/fantasy movies of the early 2000's.
