Merissa (12066 KP) rated I'rone (Guadel Chronicles #1.5) in Books
Apr 7, 2023 (Updated Apr 10, 2023)
This short story takes a leap back in time to when I'rone was but a boy and not yet married to either Betreec or Jasmine. It is a short story but still manages to provide an interesting addition to the series and tells you how Betreec and I'rone came to be (also Jasmine but that only becomes clearer later on). Something happens in this story that becomes a point of interest in the following books so it is definitely worth reading if you are going to read the series.
Short but packed full of relevant information. A definite bonus to read.
* A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book, and the comments here are my honest opinion. *

Dean (6926 KP) rated Halloween Kills (2021) in Movies

Nice ties to the original films (1 more)
Brutal
The Boogeyman is back
Carrying on from the same night as the 2018 film, much as Halloween 2 did. There are a lot of ties to the first two original Halloween films. This features characters, and some of the same actors who were kids in the first two films. Along with some flashback scenes set in '78. It's a nice touch.
There isn't a great deal of depth to the story as such but Michael is one lethal killing machine. The scene when faced with a whole fire crew is pure carnage. A little sub plot of the town coming together as a mob to tackle Michael was a bit silly. By the end you know Michael is pure evil and sets up for Halloween Ends next year.

Sassy Brit (97 KP) rated I Can Grow a Flower in Books
Jun 5, 2019
RHS I Can Grow A Sunflower is endorsed by the Royal Horticultural Society and makes a great starting book for a young gardener with this easy to read, educational guide to growing a sunflower, that comes with free seeds and a sunflower height chart, too!
Sixteen bright board book pages reveal the life cycle of a sunflower, and the excitement of growing a plant from seed. It also has some fun gardening and small critter facts and has fun flaps that open up to reveal hiding creatures!
Winner of the silver award at the Junior Design Awards 2018 – Best Pre-Schooler Book 2-5 Years – this is certainly a book to recommend to parents for children of this age, because not only is it educational, it enables hands-on experience and fun quality time together. It’s a pretty book to gift, that’s also practical and intriguing.

Merissa (12066 KP) rated Going Nowhere in Books

Going Nowhere by Lena North
Going Nowhere is a fun-filled frolic with angels, shifters, witches, and glitter-farting unicorns. If you are after a heavy, angst-laden book, then I'm sorry, but you've found the wrong one!
This is an action-packed book that has romantic elements to it, but it doesn't overrule the whole story. There are plenty of laugh out loud moments, in fact, far too many to count. I loved this book from start to finish. With its crazy family, and heart-warming characters, plus there is always which one Hibiscus will go for?!
A brilliant story that I hope will be the start of a new series. Excellently written, with no editing or grammatical errors to disrupt my reading flow. I thoroughly enjoyed every word, and really can't recommend this lighthearted novel highly enough.
* Verified Purchase ~ October 2018. *

_____ 5 stars
This was an intense and very thought provoking read. It's anything but light and Dawkins certainly likes to pack a punch.
I imagine with this one that Dawkins is perhaps already preaching to the converted though as I think they are the only ones that would consider picking this one up.
I was not raised in a religious family but I did attend a Church of England school, looking back on it now after reading this book I can see the brainwashing in full force.
Dawkins makes numerous fantastic arguments against the existence of God and why religion is ultimately 'evil' and at times truly 'laughable'.
If you are sitting on the fence and not sure which way to go when it comes to your faith then definitely read this book.
