Caffeinated Fae (464 KP) rated Closer in Books
Apr 19, 2019
First finished book of 2019!! I would rate this 3 1/2 stars so I have rounded up to 4 stars.
I listened to this book through the Read Me Romance podcast. I loved the concept of the podcast and the intro music is amazing. Closer is my first time reading Alexa Riley so I went into this book with no idea what I was signing up for. Unfortunately, it seems that this little novella fell under the curse of the novella, I didn't feel connected to the characters.
Though I didn't feel connected to the characters I still liked them. They were interesting and I wish that I could have a full novel with the characters and not a short novella. I also liked the narrators and I think that they added a half star to my rating of this book.
The plot was obviously quick and dirty. It kept me entertained but it also left me wanting a lot more. There really wasn't time to get to know the characters and it was insta love which generally annoys me. I love insta connection but the insta love just drives me up the wall. I wish that I would have gotten to know the characters more and see a relationship develop.
All in all, it was quick and dirty.

Fred (860 KP) rated Glass (2019) in Movies
Apr 16, 2019
It's an origin story
Can we just talk about James McAvoy for a minute here. We've already seen his performance in "Split", so we already knew what we were getting here. Or were we? He is off the hook here! Just plain amazing. Every second of him on the screen is pure magic. His ability to switch between personalities is amazing & shows he's one of the greatest actors out there.
For those who didn't know, "Glass" is a sequel to both "Unbreakable" & "Split", two films by M. Night Shyamalan . Famous for his twist endings (both good & bad), this film has another, which you won't see coming, but it's not a huge twist. I've heard people say they didn't like the ending, but I found it really good & satisfying.
The story is kind of slow moving, but it keeps you interested. Returning characters from both movies, not including the 3 main stars, are a welcome surprise. I don't want to give too much away, but let's say most of the movie takes place inside an Asylum where a doctor is trying to convince the 3 they don't have superpowers. Yeah, doesn't sound too interesting, but it is. I enjoyed it very much

Title: The Fault In Our Stars
Author: John Green
Read Dates: May 28th-31st
Why did I choose to read this book?
I chose to read this book because I just had thyroid removal surgery because of a tumor that was size of a tennis ball and was pushing my windpipe and stuff back that I found out is either cancer or precancerous also have other medical issues like my brain tumor. But read this because I felt I could relate to it.
Did I like it? Yes
Four things I liked about this book:
1. I can relate to how she is feeling. For example how she says she feels like a grenade I feel the same about my medical issues and don't want to hurt my family/friends either. It was very emotional.
2. I love the love story between Hazel and Augustus
3. I like how she doesn't give up
4. I like the thing Augustus did for her at the end
One thing I disliked: That Augustus dies it made me cry
Do I recommend this book? Yes
