Matthew Krueger (10051 KP) rated The Running Man (1987) in Movies

Ill Be Running Man
The Running Man- is actually a good movie. Its action mixed with sci-fi mixed with survival. And who better than Arnold to be in it. He does say alot of one liners in this movie. Like his one liner in the terminator, "Ill be back".
The plot: In the year 2019, America is a totalitarian state where the favorite television program is "The Running Man" -- a game show in which prisoners must run to freedom to avoid a brutal death. Having been made a scapegoat by the government, an imprisoned Ben Richards (Arnold Schwarzenegger) has the opportunity to make it back to the outside again by being a contestant on the deadly show, although the twisted host, Damon Killian (Richard Dawson), has no intention of letting him escape.
Wait one second, its 2019 and this is has not happened yet. It still could.
Its a very underrated sci-fi action 80s movie. I would reccordmend watching it.

LeftSideCut (3776 KP) rated The Stuff (1985) in Movies

Here we have an 80s horror that looks cheap, has a crappy sound mix, involves questionable acting from all involved, a lot of shots that feel like corners were cut, and a ridiculous premise, and it's pretty damn glorious.
The Stuff is wonderful low budget horror. The practical effects are brilliant, and the dialogue is so damn stupid. It's vintage Larry Cohen in short.
The only actual criticisms I have involves Paul Sorvino's character. Even in an over the top cheese fest such as this, his character is severely out of place, and the general fun of the film takes a bit of a dive when he's introduced, casual racism and all. Also, the ending sort of appears from no where.
Any other criticisms are good-bad criticisms. For example, a lot of the dialogue seems improvised, and it's awkward as fuck, but kind of adds to the overall quirkiness of this insane killer dessert B-Movie.
The Stuff is great. Also looks legit tasty.

THAT is how you make a film!
Okay, I know what you are going to say... "Marvel, its okay for us to go 30 seconds without laughing" But DAM! This is how you make a movie! There is so much more to it than just the humor, which is just the right amount of silly, cheesy, perfectly timed.
I just love the 80s vibes, it's done to perfection, form soundtrack to colour palet to end credits it is a wonderful blend of Nors awesomeness and Back to the Future mixed with a little Sat Wars.
Can not get enough of this one, defo in my top 5 Marvel films. Oh Deadpool, you know you my guy 😘

<2021 update>
Have also seen the movie mentioned below. It was just OK; not great.
<original 2016 review>
Prior to reading this, I'd heard good things about it, and was aware that - like seemingly nearly all of the current Young Adult Dystopian novels - there was a movie for it in the pipeline, by none other than Spielberg himself.
Set in the near-future, I found this to be like a cross between the Bruce Willis movie Surrogates (in that nearly everybody seems to live their life vicariously through other means), The Matrix (cyber reality) and maybe even a bit of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (the MacGuffin that gets the plot rolling). it probably helps that - unlike the characters - I actually *was* a kid in the 80s, and so get plenty of the various pop-culture references made.
Plenty, but not all - this, remember, is set in America, so leans more towards the American or Japanese spectrum of popular culture than European.

Kevin Phillipson (10072 KP) rated Doctor Who: Galaxy 4 in TV

Watched last night not one of the best of the early sixties who but I give it an 8 just for the animation. Anyway to the story itself as I was growing the only way I could see this was the noveliztion which came out in the 80s due to the BBC deleting all copy's from the archives but only episode 3 exits which is available to watch on the blu ray. but thank goodness they animated so now we can watch it in its glory. William hartnell is the doctor in this one there are times he can be heard fluffing his but that doesn't detract from his performance and then there's the chumbleys basically who looking for a replacement for the daleks and not a very good one at that but they serve as a plot point later in the story . Overall good animation not great story but let's hope this won't be the last 1st doctor animation we get

Roy castle
Watched today I've seen this movie several times over the years and still I love the movie based on the BBC TV show doctor who not many realise back in the 60s they made two movies with the doctor and the daleks in colour and it really is amazing the casting of Peter cushing as the doctor is the best choice in the role plays it so well and then there's Roy Castle who would go on later for a lot of children in the 70s and 80s to make a tv show called record breakers plays the comedy side rather. And then there's the daleks looking glorious in colour for the first time. Recenlty the film had been restored in glorious HD looking better than ever which is the version I watched today. Overall good movie based on a tv but dalek invasion earth 2150 still my favourite of the two

Death in a Northern Town : Only the dead Die Twice ( book 4)
By Peter Mckeirnon - Writer and Filmmaker
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
My name is John Daint. Not too long ago something terrible happened. People began to get sick. So sick that their internal organs systematically failed and they died in the most disgusting ways imaginable. Only they didn’t stay dead and it wasn’t long before the town I once knew became the nightmare my brother had warned me about. This is my journal.
I’m sorry I couldn’t possibly give this any more than the full 5⭐️ I laughed so much and so loud good job my hubby is on nights this week! I need more! More Butty and definitely more 80sDave and his crazy shit!
This is hands down one the F and best British zombie series I’ve ever read bloody hilarious especially if your an 80s baby/child! Tina turner cigarettes it’s all I need to say 😂😂
