ashezbookz (32 KP) rated Leah on the Offbeat in Books
Jul 5, 2018
3.5/5 - Cliche high school romance book - unconventional of course but still, cliche. I love Leah as a character though so I was stuck in it just for her - I wanted to know what would happen (even though I knew - HEA obvs) I was happy to get more Simon though - I think they need a "college years" book now in this and see how everyone ends up because, I'm curious. I feel like if I talk more about it it'd be spoilery - but I also feel like Leah is a bit self depreciating even though she's self confident.. i was a strange combination for my brain to comprehend.

BobbiesDustyPages (1259 KP) rated White Blood Cells by The White Stripes in Music

Okay, The White Stripes is another one that I find hard to rate while I do enjoy their music they are a really good solid rock band I find it actually really hard to listen to more than a few songs of theirs in a row. So while I do like the album I can't really listen to it all in one sitting, instead, I like to throw it into a playlist to break it up.

Leanne Crabtree (480 KP) rated Divergent in Books

4.5 stars.
I have this thing where I have to read books before the films are released, i.e. twilight, mortal instruments, and when I heard this was going to be a film, I just had to read it.
That being said, I wasn't entirely sure what the book was about before I bought it yesterday, just that it was a young adult dystopia story with romance in it.
Either way I was hooked from early on. I think it was when it came out that she didn't fit into any faction, that she was Divergent. Then we met Four, and, the sucker I am for any hint of romance, I was a goner. Hooked.
I really enjoyed this. It had a bit of everything that I like in a story and I can't wait to read what happens next in the series.

Chris Hooker (419 KP) rated A Plague of Shadows (Harbingers of Light, #1) in Books
Jan 12, 2018
[A Plague of Shadows] by [Travis Simmons] was a very quick read. I really enjoyed the characters and the plot. I see it is called "A New Adult Dark Fantasy" but I do not see what makes it 'adult'. I usually equate that with content that I can't put in my classroom. I did not find any of that in this book. To me it was a simple battle of good vs. evil. I hope to read the next installment in [The Harbingers of Light Series].

Micah Ulibarri (79 KP) rated Ali Wong: Hard Knock Wife in TV
May 14, 2018
Ali Wong is not for everyone. I admit that not all of her jokes landed for me. A large portion of her jokes involve her first year of being a mother and as I am a man with no children I can't entirely relate. No e the less, there were about 5 times when I laughed hard and quite a few chuckles throughout. I did enjoy it. I just wish I had been able to enjoy all of the material (admittedly more my issue than herself).

Caitlin Ann Cherniak (85 KP) rated Sweet Destiny in Books
Nov 15, 2018
From Goodreads: This story I found to be quite boring. Mia does have a backbone, and she seems to know what she wants, but I don't know how she finds Kenyon so appealing. All I saw in him was a pompous d-bag. I mean, at least he never cheated on a woman, I guess. For a novella, there was barely in action in it. Romances like these seem to get lamer and lamer the more I read them. Huh, I wonder what that says about me.
