"I first saw Wanda when I was in Paris making a movie and a cinephile friend of mine told me I had to see it, so I found a DVD of it, but I’ve still never seen it projected. When I was making Invisible Life, I was looking at films like it as a way to build my characters. I was very inspired by Barbara Loden’s performance and the drifting aspect of that character, who was very similar to one of the women in my film."

Michael Biehn recommended Taxi Driver (1976) in Movies (curated)

Taxi Driver (1976)
Taxi Driver (1976)
1976 | Thriller

"The first film that really inspired me… When I came out to L.A. to be an actor, I wasn’t really taking anything very seriously. I thought, maybe I’ll be a model, I could do some modeling, or maybe some commercial acting or whatever, and I thought that would be a career. Then I saw Taxi Driver. Taxi Driver is a movie that changed my life and made me a serious actor. Scorsese and De Niro. I give credit for anything that I’ve ever done as an actor."

Hey everyone. I know I have been bombarding this site with book reviews. I am a professional book reviewer and write for a national newspaper (under my other name). I do believe, however, in paying it forward, so these are some of my many reviews. I graduated from University last year with a BA Hons First class in English Literature, so as you might guess, I love books. I am now at the tail end of a post graduate course in Creative Writing and just started my dissertation. This site is a nice distraction and a great way to procrastinate, I would love to hear from like minded book people. I love memoir and am in the process of writing my own.

im also headed to school for creative writing and have written 3 books, none published because i'm to freaked out to let another person read them, they are memories of my life and i'm not ready to take that step yet. Im probably going to do the same as you, write a ton of books reviews because i'm obsessed with them LOL

"Then A Prophet. I love that movie. I think one of the greatest things about films is when they can take you to a very certain time and a very certain place. It’s time travel, its magic. I know nothing about what French prison would be like, I know nothing about it, but I believe every single second of that film. I feel like, after you watch that film, you know a little bit about what that’s like. I know how difficult that is to do. I just think it’s a beautiful honest moment, and I think that he deals with the immediacy of panic and how being panicked can change you and what people will do to survive. Its a brilliant film."

Made me a Karin Slaughter fan!
I received this as a pre-release, and I have to say, I really enjoyed it. I won't give any details on the book itself, but I will say, that it's one of those books that just sucked me right in and I couldn't put down.

I originally wanted to read this book because it was narrated by Lin-Manuel Miranda and because I had heard a few good things about it from YouTube, but I liked it way more than I thought I would. Great book (0 more)
There isn't a clear plot, but I was okay with that. (0 more)

I wasn't sure if I'd be able to get into this audiobook, but I ended up really liking it! I took me a bit to get into, but a friend suggested it, so I was willing to force myself to listen to it. Once I got interested in it I couldn't listen enough.

I found this in the library, and I started listening to the audiobook, and after a few minutes I realized I knew the story. I'd seen the movie a few years back and it had stuck with me. It was like a modern-day Alice in Wonderland but more convicting.

I didn't think I would enjoy this novel as much as I did. The alternating speakers gave a really cool way of storytelling. Though the main characters share the same name, they couldn't be more different. This is a really cool story about life as a teenager. I highly recommend it.
