Whatchareadin (174 KP) rated I Don't Know How She Does It: The Life of Kate Reddy, Working Mother in Books
Apr 9, 2019
I saw the movie for this book before I read it. When I saw the movie, I didn't realize it was a book. I wasn't reading as much back in those days. But I received the sequel, How Hard Can It Be? so I decided to read I Don't Know How She Does It. As a working mother I thought that I would be able to relate to Kate Reddy in this book. Even though I don't have a corporate job, trying to find enough hours in the day to fit in time to do for yourself, your job and your family seems nearly impossible. But I couldn't find the connection in this book. While the book as a whole was good, I didn't find myself invested in it. I wanted to know what was going to happen, but I didn't really care.
I think part of my issue is that I kept thinking the book was set in the United States and then having to transfer myself back to the UK. This is why you never watch the movie first. It gives you a false sense of hope. I don't know if I would have felt any differently about the book if I hadn't seen the movie, though.

This is not a hilarious book... Sure, I laughed out loud at parts, but it's a serious novel touching on serious issues. I was hooked by chapter one and seriously loved Amy Schumer more and more as I read on (I am NOT a fan of her show or comedy). She seriously stole my heart. I cried more than once and am touched by how genuine she is.

This is how I used to write reviews... Yikes! :-P
I found this to be a very enjoyable book! Some things were amusing, just the way gothics were written back then. Usually gothics are pretty predictible, but this one ended differently than I thought it would! I thought Carina one of the best protagonists in a gothic that I have read. All in all a quick, fun read!

Let me start by saying I'm not truly a poetry person, I don't know poems and I don't care for them. This one was basically written as a book but the spacing was quite like a poem - I enjoyed that immensely, it was easy to follow and the subject matter was just intense, it made you want to continue. I am so utterly happy that I read this book
I honestly had not seen this film for several years. I decided to watch it with my family on a whim while we were on a camping trip. I turned it on and realized just how well done this movie really was. There were a couple of effects that didn't hold up as well as they should have, but I was really surprised at how much I really enjoyed this movie.

Awesome kids book
I loved reading this book as a kid. I enjoyed the movie but it was very different from the book. The one thing the movie kept was her "gift" otherwise I remember it as being very different than the book. Its been a long time since I read this book, so I can't give a full length review other than to say it was an awesome read.

Why have I not seen this sooner
Why have I not seen this sooner?! I finally sat down to watch it after my boyfriend kept insisting. I always get a little nervous when a person says something is amazing and a must watch. This truely didn't disappoint, I was gripped feom start to finish and loved it. Class acting. Wonderful story. Phenomenal.
